Fixing and configuring the vCenter for ActiveDirectory Integration

Step 1: Go to this web address to configure the integration:
https://<your vCenter's name>:9443



If your port "9443" does not work with the https, and you get errors.  You will need to read my note at the bottom of this document.



  • Go to appropriate directory where Web Client is installated (by default: C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\vSphere Web Client\Scripts.)
  • run this command: admin-cmd.bat register https://<vSphere-web-client-url>:9443/vsphere-client https://<vcenter-server-url> <username> <password>

    Step 2: Log-in with:
    username: administrator@vsphere.local
    password: <the one you chose when you setup vCenter>

    Step 3Now look for the Administration Tab

    Step 4: Look for Single Sign-On and click Users and Groups


    Step 5: Do you see your domain listed?  If not proceed to Step 5.

    Step 5.5: Click Configurations under Users and Groups:


    Step 6: Now click the Identity Sources tab:

    Step 7:  Click the green plus sign


    Step 8: Select Active Directory (Integrated Windows Authentication) and type in your domain if it does not already show up:








    Step 9: Click Okay

    Step 10: Open your vcenter client and enjoy logging in as:

    username: yourdomain\useraccount
    password: <none of my business>
